Abstract

In the 1930s, the Catholic Church tried to recover the public educational space that it had resigned to because of the implementation of the liberal project during the late 19th century, which was framed in a process of secularization of the State. In this period, it is observed how different representatives of Catholic nationalism hold management positions in organizations linked to the educational field, such as the National Council of Education, while the ecclesiastical hierarchy begins to intensify its manifestations on the importance of the implementation of religious teachings.
Between 1930 and 1946, the formation of an alliance between constitutional and unconstitutional governments with the Catholic Church can be observed to seek legitimation of their power due to their fraudulent origin or their forceful ascent to government. The present work intends to investigate how the discourse that managed to reposition the Church in the educational field was built, observing the implemented measures, but also the manifestations of its officials and the ecclesiastical hierarchy that little by little were managing to establish their educational project.
