Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The request has not been previously published, nor has it been submitted to another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  • The submitted file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect format.

  • Web addresses have been added for references where possible.

  • The text is 1.5 spaced; the font size is 11 point; italics are used instead of underlining (except for URLs); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are within the text where they belong and not at the end of the text.

  • The text complies with the bibliographic and style requirements indicated in the Guidelines for Authors, which can be found in About the Journal.

  • If you are submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, you must ensure that the instructions in Assuring a blind review have been followed.

1. Conditions of acceptance

The journal of philosophy Tábano is an open academic publication, which receives works from authors from our University, as well as from other institutions, both national and foreign. At the same time, as a student publication, it dedicates a space to articles by students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature, thus contributing to the insertion of students in the academic and research world.

Philosophical works will be accepted in the form of academic articles, lectures, papers and book reviews, as well as philosophical reflections of a personal nature. The Editor will judge the convenience of other formats in extraordinary situations.Contributions must be in Spanish or English or be susceptible of being translated into these languages.

They must be original and unpublished works, unless they are lectures or papers delivered but not published. Exceptions to this requirement are those authors who are specially invited by the Editor, by virtue of their prestige and academic excellence.

The authors of the articles published in the journal Tábano concede their rights to the publisher, on a non-exclusive basis, to incorporate the digital version of the same to the Institutional Repository "Digital Library of the Catholic University of Argentina" as well as to other databases considered to be of academic relevance. Tábano does not charge any fee for the publication of articles.

2. Basic format for submission

Send a copy in electronic format (MS Word or compatible) to: revista_tabano@uca.edu.ar. Font: Times New Roman, size 11. Sheet: A4 / Line spacing: 1.5 lines, note spacing: 1 line. Indentation of 1.25 points in the first line of all paragraphs. Subsequent spacing between paragraphs of 6 points.

For citation and bibliographical references we adopt the APA norms (sixth edition). 

The main text of the article should be between 5000-9500 words (including abstract and keywords).

Reviews should be of current publications (last three years) and no longer than 2500 words.

3. Author's data, abstracts and keywords

The name of the author and the institutions to which he/she belongs should be indicated at the end of the paper. Also, a short curriculum vitae should be included in the article and the author should specify if he/she wishes his/her e-mail address to be disclosed.

Articles should be accompanied by an English translation of the title and an abstract of between 100 and 150 words, in Spanish and also in English.

Please suggest four or five key words that can identify the most developed topics in the article, both in Spanish and English.

The date of completion of the text should be indicated.

Authors who publish in this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right to be the first publication of the work as licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgment of authorship of the work and initial publication in this journal.
  2. Authors may separately enter into additional arrangements for non-exclusive distribution of the version of the work published in the journal (e.g., placing it in an institutional repository or publishing it in a book), with an acknowledgment of initial publication in this journal.
  3. Authors are allowed and encouraged to disseminate their work electronically (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their own website) before and during the submission process, as it may lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and higher citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).
