El gran vecino norteño: una aproximación a las relaciones de Uruguay con Brasil en la primera mitad del siglo XX

Relations between Uruguay and Brasil during the first half of the 20th Century have not deserved yet a long term study, a job that has been hampered by the lack of primary research work. However, when analizing these relations, distinctly emerge some interpretative lines: the ups and downs of internal politics in both countries; the reiterated tensions experimented by Uruguay-Argentine relations; the relation of both Uruguay and Brasil with the United States and the Panamerican system. The present text tries an initial aproximation to some of these interpretative lines, studying them in three periods of time, which are important in both countries historical processes and in their world and regional position: the «Rio Braco era» (1902-1912); the First World War (1914-1918), and the «Vargas Era» (1930-1945).Downloads
