Rubén Darío: Essayist

Abstract

This paper sets out the existence of an essayistic dimension in some pieces of prose of Darío”s work. Besides it revises different zones in which essayistic modes are put on discursive stage. Finally, it summarizes Darío”s conception of the a essay as a “genre of thinking”, his rejection of being considered “an essayist” and it points out certain conditions while it describes some of his texts in terms that allow to consider them as such.
