The evolution of China’s grand strategy and its impact on the relationship with Latin America

Abstract

This article seeks to analyze the development of the PRC’s ties with Latin America in the context of the evolution of China's grand strategy since the Deng era. To this end, the rationale that set in motion such grand strategy at each historical stage and the resulting tactics will be discussed, to then specify the evolution of the Sino-Latin American relationship. The conclusion will provide a characterization of China’s grand strategy in the last 40 years and will refer to how it was reflected in the development of links with Latin America.
