Practical education during the governments of Federico and Aldo Cantoni: contributions from the New School (1923-1934)

Abstract

The reformist experience of the brothers Federico and Aldo Cantoni at the head of the local Executive Power of the province of San Juan has been the subject of constant studies from different disciplines, due to its implications and innovations in different areas of public administration. The educational field was no exception, and the creators of the Bloquista Party promoted a series of transformations of the local educational system, where the focus was placed on practical education and the professional training of women, stimulating a less encyclopedic education and closer to the daily tasks and professions of the working sectors of the San Juan economy. This work aims to unravel the different contributions that from the New School were reflected in the measures in the provincial educational system during the administrations of Aldo and Federico Cantoni in the province of San Juan during the decades of 1920 and 1930.
