Cost of lost productivity due to AIDS deaths in Argentina

The present work explores the analysis of the statistical value of life from the approach of human capital considering the value of lost productivity due to the fact that a person dies of AIDS in Argentina. The results obtained show the significant impact of the 1,402 deaths from AIDS, which they represent 0.46% of the total deaths registered during 2008. The registered deaths imply an annual economic loss of 332,945,741 pesos 2007 flows, which are equivalent to 0.4% of GDP and 0.71% of public spending in health.
